The Spice Girls have brought out a new song, 'Headlines (Friendship Never Fades)', a month before their Reunion Tour. They have also rejoined their manager.

The Spice Girls released a new single on the 2nd November, a month before their reunion tour is due to begin. The video is available online.

It is the first Spice Girls song to have been recorded since 2000 and the first time the group has included Geri Halliwell – ‘Ginger Spice’ – since 1998. The Spice Girls are releasing an album containing 13 of their well-known hits, like ‘Wannabe’ and ‘Spice Up Your Life’ as well as two new tracks: ‘Voodoo’ and this latest single entitled ‘Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)’

History

The all-female pop group first formed in London in 1994.

In May 1998 Geri Halliwell, announced through her lawyer that she was leaving the group because of differences.

In February 2001, the four other Spice Girls decided to take a break and pursue their solo careers.

Tour

On the 28th June 2007 the Spice Girls – including Ms Halliwell - confirmed they were reforming for a world tour, for which they will reportedly share a fee of 100 million dollars – 20 million each. The tour begins in Vancouver on December 2 2007 and ends on January 24. The tour dates already include Las Vegas, New York, Los Angeles, London, Manchester, Cologne, Madrid, Beijing, Toronto, Hong Kong, Sydney, Cape Town and Buenos Aires.

Rumours

There have been rumours – especially since 2003 – that the Spice Girls might be getting together again. Geri Halliwell was reported to have been making advances to her ex-colleagues and there was talk of their performing in 2005 at the Live 8 concert in Hyde Park, London. Initially, in fact, they were rejected for that event, but then Sir Bob Geldof changed his mind – prompted by the publicity surrounding the non-selection.

Melanie Brown stated at that time that she was not available. Indeed it has been Ms Brow, - also known as Mel B and "Scary Spice" - who has appeared most resistant to the reunion and has insisted that the group will only coming together for a short time, as a final goodbye and a thank you to fans.

Solo Careers

Apart from ‘Scary Spice’ and from Geri Halliwell – ‘Ginger Spice’, the other Spice Girls are Melanie Chisholm – ‘Sporty Spice’, Emma Bunton "Baby Spice" and Victoria Becham (née Adams) – is ‘Posh Spice’.

The five performers have had varying degrees of success with their solo careers. Two of them have been in the public eye for reasons other than their music. Mel B was involved in a whirlwind romance with Eddie Murphy the comedian and actor, followed by a paternity suit. Posh Spice – Victoria Beckham – who has been labelled a fashion icon - is married to the soccer superstar David Beckham.

Beckhams

The Beckhams have been darlings of the British Press for years, as the former England Captain has progressed from Manchester United via Real Madrid to American soccer club L.A. Galaxy The 31-year-old midfielder with the legendary capacity to bend the ball in the air signed five-year deal – reportedly worth 256 million dollars - with the L.A. team. He has been plagued with injuries in his first season in the United States.

Other Reunions

Sir Richard Branson has announced that the Spice Girls will fly for free on his airline – Virgin. The Spice Girls originally signed with Branson’s Virgin record label in 1996.

The Spice Girls have also rejoined their manager and mentor, Simon Fuller. They fired him ten years ago on November 7, 1997.
